I created Three Madonnas, is in response a medieval triptych in the Chrysler Museum’s collection, Madonna and Child Flanked by Four Saints. My work is a contemporary take on a traditional Catholic object which provides a bridge to compare religious art of the past with the contemplative, self-searching artwork of today. You may draw parallels between a triptych hanging on a nobelman’s castle wall to portraits of you and members of your family hanging on the walls of your own home or to formal portraits in boardrooms at your place of work. The three madonnas are myself, my daughter and my granddaughter.
